Like you, the LCBO has been closely monitoring the multiple considerations facing the international supply chain industry.
The series of labour disruptions at the Port of Montreal over the summer meant that shipments that would normally have been processed through Montreal were diverted through to other eastern Northern American seaboards, including Halifax and St. John, and New York. We are aware of the potential for additional labour disruption later this month, which could again result in delays due to future diversions.
This, combined with ongoing unpredictability due to COVID-19 and current customer buying patterns, sailing schedules, port congestion, and impact to rail networks could have an impact on LCBO’s fill rates and our in-stock position, particularly of imported brands from Europe and Mexico.
We are working closely with our international supply chain partners and suppliers and to stay informed during this fluid situation and we continue to plan ahead and allow for increased transit time to ensure that our position remains strong. Our facilities are working seven days a week, moving product as fast as possible. Although we appreciate our customers’ understanding should we experience any delays or issues related to availability of popular or imported products, our intention is that the retail and wholesale customer experience remain as uninterrupted as possible.
Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to monitor the situation and adapt accordingly. As always, we are here to answer any questions you may have.
Thank you and stay safe,
Nick Nanos
