As part of the government’s continued support for the alcohol sector, the Minister of Finance has signed a regulatory amendment to O. Reg. 257/10 under the Liquor Tax Act, 1996, filed on February 10, 2023, to delay the next scheduled adjustment in beer basic tax rates from March 1, 2023, to March 1, 2024, commencing indexation annually as of March 1, 2024.
As such, the LCBO will pause the indexation of beer basic mark-ups currently scheduled for March 1, 2023, and begin annual indexation adjustments starting on March 1, 2024. This deferral does not affect the indexation of beer cost of service as previously communicated on December 22, 2022.
